Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park – Tennessee

While vacationing near the Big South Fork Recreation Area, we decided to check out Sergeant Alvin C. York State Historic Park near Pall Mall, Tennessee. Sgt. York fought in World War I where he won more than 40 awards including the Congressional Medal of Honor.

We stopped at the gristmill which is situated on the beautiful Wolfe River. York purchased the mill in the early 1940’s.

Across the street from the mill is the York family home and there is a trail that leads from the home to his burial sight. A suspension bridge crosses the Wolfe River.

This was a great place to stop at and walk around since our cabin was located in Jamestown, Tennessee which was just a short drive away. Be sure to check out this historic site!

  1. Nice pictures, but I think I would pass on the suspension bridge – they are not my favorite.

  2. The mill looks great, but I’d take a pass on the suspension bridge (fear of heights would get to me!).
