Roaring River State Park – Missouri

While in the Branson area, we took a drive to Roaring River State Park near Cassville, Missouri. Located deep in the rugged Ozark hills, this park is one of three Missouri State Parks that stocks trout. Fisherman flock to this park to fish and it was very busy while we were there! We liked the Devil’s Kitchen trail which is a 1.4 mile loop trail. I first thought this was just a nice stroll through the woods, but once you reach the top of the bluff, the trail circles a large rock outcropping. It is really neat to explore this area and the hidden rooms and passages. There are some pretty good elevation changes on this trail too!

This park reminded me of Giant City State Park in Illinois! We also hiked the Springhouse Trail which was a nice short hike through the woods near the inn.

While we were there it looked like the trail to the natural spring was closed due to construction so I was a bit bummed out, but oh well! Ellie still had a good time!

I hope to go back to this park one day and see the beauty of the spring and hike a few other trails.

Since we weren’t done exploring just yet, we stopped at Dogwood Canyon on the way back. Be sure to check out that post!
