We lucked out and only had one day of rain on our trip to the Hocking Hills region. We still decided to get out and explore a bit so we went on a tour of Fairfield County’s covered bridges. I used the map from HERE to locate the bridges. It is really nice to see that the county has preserved the historic bridges.
Mink Hollow Covered Bridge: Just north of the bridge is the entrance to Christmas Rocks Nature Preserve.
Johnston Covered Bridge
Hanaway Covered Bridge
We also stopped at Cross Mound Park since it was on the map. I love the suspension bridge that spans Salt Creek.
A short trail leads to a historical marker. An ancient culture built up dirt to form a mound representing a cross.
You will notice Rock Mill is also on the map of Fairfield County Parks. Be sure to check out my post on Rock Mill HERE.
