Rock Bridge & Creation Falls – Kentucky

We took one more day trip while we were visiting the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. We hiked the Rock Bridge trail which also passes by Creation Falls. There are not a lot of waterfalls in the Red River Gorge, so if you are looking for a waterfall that is fairly easy to get to, be sure to check this trail out.

Located on the east side of the Red River Gorge, this trail is about 5 miles down a rock road which should be accessible to all vehicles. This is a pretty busy trailhead so I recommend getting there early.

The trail descends around some interesting rock formations and through dense rhododendron and eventually arrives at the top of Creation Falls. The trail actually stays to the south of the falls, but if the water is low enough, you can cross over Rock Bridge Fork and then scramble down beneath the falls. Take in the views of this beautiful waterfall!

Rather than hop back on the trail, walk around the bend in the creek and Rock Bridge will come into view!

Rock Bridge is halfway through the 1.3 mile loop. This is the only arch in the Red River Gorge that spans water!

From here, the trail meets up with the Swift Camp Creek Trail so be sure to stay on the Rock Bridge Trail. The trail climbs steadily uphill back to the other side of the parking lot.

I absolutely loved this trail and highly recommend it.

From here, since we were not too far from Chimney Top, we headed back north to visit Chimney Top and Princess Arch. Both trails start from the same parking lot.

A .25 mile trail leads to Princess Arch. Princess Arch is a low, flat arch that you can access both the top and bottom. Well worth visiting since it is such a short hike.

Our final hike was to Chimney Top which might be one of the most stunning overlooks in the Red River Gorge. Basically a 360 degree view awaits at the end of of .25 mile trail.

Red River Gorge, you were amazing and everything I had hoped for. We will be back!
