We were looking for something to do on a Saturday and had thought about going to the Missouri History Museum which is located in Forest Park. I was browsing their website and came across a section for tours. See STL Tours operates a lot of different tours around the city including Downtown, The Hill, Forest Park and the Central West End. We hope to do more of the tours in the future so as we do, I will add to this post!
St. Louis History & Architecture 101 Tour
Our tour started out from Kiener Plaza and headed east past the Old Court House. Our tour guide explained the history of St. Louis and how it was founded in 1764 based on the fur trapping trade.

We then headed towards the iconic Gateway Arch and walked around the grounds. Just a few years ago, the grounds were renovated and it is truly beautiful. I can’t wait to go back and visit the new museum and take the tram ride to the top of the Arch.

We then walked up Washington Avenue and learned about the architecture and history of this street.

I really enjoyed the tour! The guide was very knowledgeable and was loud and very easy to understand. The information was really interesting and contained unique facts that you normally would not learn.
The tour cost $20 and lasted about two hours. I thought it was well worth the money and I really enjoyed it! It was fun to be tourists in our own city!
After the tour, we walked back down to the Arch Grounds and over to the Eads Bridge!

Looks fun!
