Ripson Bridge – Illinois

It has been a little while since I have been out exploring and Saturday was a beautiful and sunny day, so it was a perfect day for a drive. We headed towards the small town of Sorento, Illinois to the historic Ripson Bridge.

The bridge was built in 1895 as a route to cross Bond County.

The pony truss iron bridge spans Shoal Creek. We walked across the wooden deck taking in the historic structure.

Overall it was a nice trip. On our way back home, we even stopped for an ice cream in Highland, Illinois at Sammies and Ellie had her first ice cream cone and she loved it! This place is dog friendly so be sure to check it out!
