While we were visiting family in Fredericksburg, Virginia and camping at Lake Anna State Park, we took a day and traveled to Washington D.C. to explore the sites. We rode the Virginia Railway Express to L’Enfant Station and walked a couple blocks to the mall.
To the right we could see the Capitol Building and to the left was the Washington Monument.
We walked toward the Washington Monument and passed the iconic Smithsonian Castle.
After the Washington Monuments, we visited the White House.
And then onto the World War II Memorial.
From here, we walked along the reflecting pool to the Lincoln Memorial.
Next, we visited the Vietnam Memorial and the Korean War Memorial.
From here, we walked to the FDR Memorial which is one of my favorites.
And then walked around the Tidal Basin to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
After that we walked back to the mall to visit the Air and Space Museum, the Museum of American History and finally the National Archives where the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution are kept. It was a long day and we walked all day long, but it was something I will never forget. There is so much history in one place. You can see our route below.
I would love to visit.. I love to see photos of human size bronzes..
