Buggytop Cave – Tennessee

Buggytop Cave is located in the Carter Natural Area just outside of Sewanee, Tennessee. It is a 2.5 mile out and back trail so 5 miles round trip. The trail then comes to a “T”. The trail to the left leads to the entrance to Peter Cave while the trail to the right leads to Buggytop Cave. We took the trail to the right that leads down the ridgeand along a tall rock wall to the opening of Buggytop Cave. A stream flows from the opening and I remember feeling the cool breeze coming out of the cave which was very refreshing.

Be sure to follow the stream for a bit as there are a bunch of beautiful cascades and small waterfalls that open up to a little pool.
