St. Francis State Park is about about an hour from St. Louis and nestled in the Coonville Creek Wild Area. We wanted to take a drive for the day and do a little hiking so we came here. We first hiked the Mooner’s Hollow trail which is about 2.75 miles long. The trail runs along Coonville Creek and features a small cascading waterfall.
We also hiked the Swimming Deer trail which gives you view of the Big River for part of the way. For some reason, our puppy tired out half way through the hike….
All in all, a great day of hiking close to St. Louis!
