We woke up to another beautiful morning in Hawaii. For the first part of the morning, we headed over to Magic Sands Beach. This beach was just about a mile from the condo. This beach was beautiful! This beach was popular, but we didn’t have any trouble finding our own little place in the sand.

The water was a beautiful aqua color and very clear.
On a side note, on our last day, my brother and I visited the beach one last time before we had to fly out. Apparently, there was a shark spotted a couple days earlier so you were not allowed in the water! Eek!
For the afternoon, we decided to take a trip to Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Site located on the coast of the Honaunau Bay, south of Kona. This place was really interesting because we got to learn more about Hawaii’s culture and past.
A self-guided tour leads you around the beautiful grounds.
This site was a place of refuge. If you broke the sacred laws, the punishment was death and the only way to escape death was to reach the place of refuge.
I highly recommend visiting this National Historic Site. It is not that crowded and makes for a great half day trip. If you are interested in snorkeling, right next door is Two-Step. Two-Step is supposedly the best place to snorkel on the island. We did not snorkel here, but there were tons of people in the water!
Stay tuned for another Hawaii post!
